To promote his new film Lincoln, Steven Spielberg released a pre-trailer encouraging people to join him for a Google+ Hangout that was concluded by airing the first real trailer. In other words, the film world is trying new ways to harness social media and movie promotion is becoming increasingly, confusingly meta.
