Paying It Forward

Monday, December 19th, 2011

In our world of deadlines, meetings and daily pressures we often forget to take a few steps back and reflect on what we give back to the world.  There’s truth in the simple philosophy of “paying it forward”; lending a few hours a month to help others can make a difference.

This Tuesday (December20th) we have five open slots for Saatchi employees to volunteer 2 hours of their time to help spread cheer to those less fortunate than ourselves. We’ll be traveling to the New York City Rescue Mission to help serve dinner to shelter residents.  It is always a meaningful experience that provides so much to the people you serve, especially during the holiday season.

We welcome any and all to participate!!!  Please reach out directly to Daniel Riddick (x3890) to reserve your spot for tomorrow, December 20th.

The shelter is located on the corner of Lafayette and White Streets.  Volunteering lasts from 4:30 PM until around 6:30.  We typically meet in the lobby of 375 Hudson and walk down as a group.  We look forward to you joining us on Tuesday!

Cheer with Cheerios

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

We invite everyone at 375 Hudson to visit the Cheerios team in the lobby on Monday October 24th to help spread Cheer to a military family!  All you have to do is stop by our table, fill out a post card and the USO will make sure it is delivered to a military family.

Everyone can use a little pick me up now and then. But for the millions of military families manning the fort at home while their loved ones are away serving, a gesture of cheer is especially welcome.  To show them that America cares, Saatchi NY on behalf of Cheerios® and the USO have launched “Cheer,” a postcard campaign that spreads cheer directly to these honorable military families and supports USO programs.

Here’s how it works:  During the months of October and November, 2011, specially-marked boxes of Cheerios cereal will feature Cheer postcards on the front of the box. Consumers can simply cut out the postcard, write a message of thanks on the back, add a stamp, and mail the per-addressed card to the USO.  The USO will deliver the Cheer card to military families across the country.  For each postcard received, Cheerios will make a donation to the USO to help fund programs designed to support military families.  It’s a simple way to say thanks and lift the spirits of our country’s military families.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday.

A Monthly Mission

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

In our world of deadlines, meetings and daily pressures we often forget to take a few steps back and reflect on what we give back to the world.  Sometimes the simple philosophy of “paying it forward” can go a long way.  And other times lending a few hours a month to help others can make a difference.

On the third Tuesday every of month a group of us shut down our computers at 4:30PM and head down to the New York City Rescue Mission on Lafayette and White St.  It’s here where five or six SaatchiNY employees spend a few hours serving food, pouring water and hopefully spreading cheer to people less fortunate.

For some of us, it’s a chance to help our fellow men and women.  For others , it’s a way for to feel better by doing good for others.  Regardless of why we all show up every month, it feels good to lend a hand to those in need. It gives all who participate a renewed perspective on life.

If you’re in need of some good karma, or you’re just an ol’ fashioned Good Samaritan, we would love to have you next month. Please let me know if you would like to be added to the list for next month or anytime in the future.

Best, Daniel Riddick – Daniel.riddick@saatchiny.com
