John Doris in the Hudson/Houston area

John Doris is a Senior Sisomo Producer at SaatchiNY. He’s an avid world traveler, an aspiring goalkeeper & has worked on some very memorable campaigns for Saatchi & Saatchi (including the below mentioned Beware of the Doghouse for JCPenney and Fruit by the Foot’s Cannes winning spots last year)

Photographs taken by a new addition to the H/H photography team, Beth Galloway (VP, Management Supervisor). If you’re interested in seeing more of her work, please check out her website.

What do you do at Saatchi & Saatchi?

I help bring great ideas to life. My recent favorites have been Prop 8, Beware of the Doghouse and Fruit by the Foot.

What was your first job?

It’s a bit cliché for a kid from London but I got a Saturday job on a stall at a local market selling trainers (sneakers). I loved the wheeling and dealing aspect of it and interacting with all kinds of interesting people. Yes, I was a barrow boy!

If you weren’t at Saatchi & Saatchi, what profession would you most like to try?

Professional footballer, playing in goal for England. God knows we need it.

What motivates you most?

The fact that you only get one life and you have to make every second count.

What blogs, magazines, books, papers or websites can you not live without?

NYT, YouTube, Last FM, IMDB, GQ . . .

What are your Lovemarks?

Apple, Xbox, Arsenal FC

What is your favorite place in the world? Why?

This is a tough one. I’ve been to some amazing places in the world but I’d have to say there’s no place like home. It’s all about family.

Who do you most aspire to be like?

Probably my older brother who is also called John Doris and runs a Production Company in London. There is a good explanation as to why we’re both called John I promise. Ask me next time we’re out drinking.

If stranded on a deserted island and you could bring only one thing, what would it be?

A football. Wiiiiiiillllllllsssooon!

Tell us something surprising about yourself.

I got married in Vegas on 7/7/7 to a girl I’d only known for 10 minutes. Alright, it was actually10 years . . . but 10 minutes had you more surprised.

What’s your DOT?

I try and cycle everywhere as much as possible. I’m also a bit of an old scrooge with the AC, much to my wife’s annoyance.

What’s your favorite creative pursuit.

Photography.

What led you on the path you’re on today?

Probably my brother. He got into a big ad agency in London at an early age and worked his way up to head of production. When I left school I started in the AV dept like him as an editor and worked my way into TV Production.

Do you have a motto?

“He who dares, wins”. Any English people will know who I stole this from!

What do you do for fun?

Hang out with friends, watch movies, play soccer and see as much of the world as possible while doing all of the above.

What’s your favorite client story?

What goes on location stays on location!

What’s your favorite thing to do in NY?

Walk around and take it all in. Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Soho. It never gets old.

Who is your favorite artist/musician/designer?

Changes all the time. Right now I really like The xx, Florence and the machine and Two Door Cinema Club.

When’s the last time you gave a standing ovation?

Probably at a Kings of Leon concert in Hyde Park this summer. I’m way overdue another.
