Last week we launched “Together Counts,” a social health movement aimed at helping families lead healthier and more active lives through the concept of energy balance. The creation and launch of the brand for the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation was a 6 month, whirlwind process!
What is energy balance, you ask? It’s a simple idea- the calories we consume should be balanced by the calories we expend on physical activity.
Together Counts invites people to get involved by taking a simple pledge: Eat at least 1 meal and do at least 1 activity together with your family (or “family” of your choosing) every week.
Our website and facebook application employ simple game mechanics. People get points for keeping their commitment to their family pledge of meals and activities together. Points unlock special badges and eventually the goal is to tie it to real-world incentives.
IT STARTS WITH US
Together Counts is about to launch across the country, but it starts here, with us at SaatchiNY. We tied the launch of Together Counts to Bring Your Kids to Work Day, showing kids the nuts and bolts of an advertising agency, while also teaching them (in a fun way!) to make better choices for healthy and active living. The schedule of activities captured the notion of energy balance, as equal importance was placed on proper nutrition and exercise. By the end of the day we had 30 enthusiastic new ambassadors for Together Counts. Be on the lookout for their video project, a launch video for the Together Counts facebook page!
