Oscar, anyone?

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

You know what we really like? The Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival. We love judging and awarding the Nothing Is Impossible Producers Award each year, and have had a blast bringing in filmmakers and their pictures to screen in our monthly MVAAFF Series. So we’re extremely proud and excited to announce that a 2011 finalist film of the Producer’s Award, ‘The Barber of Birmingham,’ was nominated this week for a Best Documentary (short subject) Academy Award!

This film, directed and produced by  Robin Fryday, Gail Dolgin and Abby Ginzberg, depicts the journey and struggle for human and civil rights in America through the eyes of an almost overlooked foot soldier; the unassuming James Armstrong The Barber of Birmingham.

In early December Saatchi screened this film in our New York office and are now planning a return engagement. Stay tuned!

Sports Marketing Gold

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Some exciting news from the Head & Shoulders camp this week. The team was awarded two Golds at this year’s Sports Media Marketing Awards. Both of the awards were under the Sponsorship and Corporate Partner Category.

BEST PARTNERSHIP WITH AN ATHLETE
The first award of the night came to the team for the H&S partnership with Troy Polamalu (and his glorious head of hair). “Not for You” (at the top of the post) was specifically pointed out for the win.

BEST SPOT
“Not for You” also took home the coveted best spot award. We were up against a number of established brands with tons of experience working in the sports category, so it’s a fantastic icing on the proverbial cake. It’s worth noting that we were finalists in the Best Use of Humor and Best Campaign categories.

Congrats guys!

Mark Cochrane presents this year's winners w/ their $500 prize!

ADCOLOR WIN

Monday, September 19th, 2011

This weekend, some of the Saatchi NY team had the privilege to travel to Los Angeles for the 2011 ADCOLOR awards. While they were there, they accepted this year’s Most Valuable Partnership (MVP for short) award on behalf of the agency. The award went our way as a result of our 12 year partnership with the amazing, wonderful, spectacular, and most importantly, effective, Street Lights program. We’ve provided a little more information on the program for you below, and since Mr. Sheldon Levy had to skype his acceptance speech, we had the chance to include it for you above. Congrats to everyone who’s helped us win this recognition!

ON STREETLIGHTS
For over 10 years, Saatchi has participated in the Commercial Diversity Initiative (CDI) to specifically target TV commercial production.   The group, through Streetlights, partners with clients to offer qualified graduates of the program a chance to make that difficult first move up the career ladder to apprenticeships.  The majority of Streetlights participants are economically and socially disadvantaged and the ultimate goal is to help advance their professional careers.  It’s also building a much needed industry-wide minority talent pool, with jobs ranging from Gaffer to Grip, Producer to Prop Master, Assistant Camera to Assistant Director. Experienced graduate apprentices earn Union eligibility days in order to join their Union local.

At the same time, the financial assistance of the partner companies allows Streetlights to train more Production Assistants, so they can also advance and become part of our minority database. Streetlights enables Saatchi to “speak our hearts with our spend” in a tangible way. Through our partnership with Streetlights, we have been able to target the money we spend on our clients behalf to have a specific and consistent effect on the participants in the program.

Devin & Glenn win One Award

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

We’re happy to announce that the above short film that we produced for the Repeal Prop 8 campaign has been making the rounds at awards shows recently. Last week at the One Show, the Devin & Glenn team was awarded two pencils (sort of the Oscar of the One Show). The film took home a silver in the interactive category, and even better . . . a gold in the non-broadcast film category! They also took home four Andy Awards last month; two golds (web film & the Richard T O’Reilly Best in Show) and two silvers (copywriting & directing).

Congrats to the team. If there’s anyone who hasn’t seen the video yet – do yourself the favor and check it out. It’s funny, poignant and, most importantly, effective. We promise that it’s pretty great.

Ad Age A List

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

If you haven’t seen already, Ad Age announced the winners of their annual Agency of the Year awards yesterday. It was a good showing for the global Saatchi & Saatchi network, with Del Campo Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi (Argentina) winning International Agency of the Year, and our partners down south Conill (Miami & LA), taking home Multicultural Agency of the Year.

INTERNATIONAL AGENCY OF THE YEAR
Del Campo Nazca has been on fire this year. You may remember our past post on their new Play Station work from early December. The above video comes from their Cannes Grand Prix-winning Teletransporter campaign for Andes Beer. Watch it and you’ll see that they absolutely deserve all the accolades they’ve gotten this year.

MULTICULTURAL AGENCY OF THE YEAR
Conill was also super deserving. They’ve had the best year in their 40+ year history, picked up new benchmark clients like JCP, PlayStation & CitiBank and won a Gold Lion for film at Cannes. We’re especially happy since the SaatchiNY team has had the chance partner with them on a number of multicultural projects in 2010.

Congrats to both agencies, here’s to the entire Saatchi & Saatchi network making 2011 even better than the last!

True Blue Awarded

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Bill Tucker (CEO MediaVest Worldwide), Adam Werbach, Kevin Roberts

Yesterday afternoon, Saatchi & Saatchi’s Chief Sustainability Officer and Chairman of Saatchi S Adam Werbach was inducted into the Advertising Association Federation’s (AAF) Advertising Hall of Achievement. The awards ceremony took place at Cipriani’s, where Adam & the six other inductees were celebrated for their achievements in the world of advertising.

AT THE AWARDS
In his acceptance speech, Adam talked about how unlikely it was that an environmentalist would find himself receiving an award from the ad industry. But with all the great work he’s done at Saatchi & Saatchi (and elsewhere), he couldn’t deserve it more. We’ll close with a quote from our Worldwide CEO Kevin Roberts’ introduction yesterday.

He understands that transformational change requires constant creativity, fierce determination, and a commitment to making things happen, not just getting things done. It’s why he’s been able to prove the naysayers wrong.

Congrats Adam.

To mark the occasion, Neal Foard & his Toyota team put together the video below, which was shown at the awards luncheon. Be sure to check it out, because it’s a lot of fun.
