Sheldon Levy & Streetlights

Monday, November 12th, 2012

This morning we’d like to issue a hearty congratulations to our resident VP, Deputy Director of Broadcast Production (and all around good guy) Sheldon Levy. Last Thursday, Sheldon was feted in LA by the Streetlights program, which honored him with their annual Champions award.

For those of you not familiar with streetlights, they’re an organization that helps minority youth to learn the trades of production and helps them to find work on sets around the country. Sheldon received the Champion award as a result of more than a decade championing Streetlights mission of “racial equality behind the camera” in their TV production division.

Keep up the good work sir!

Looking Back

Monday, October 15th, 2012

In the lead-up to ADCOLOR 2012, The Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (or, MAIP) is celebrating the 6th anniversary of the awards by tapping past honorees to share stories, words of wisdom or career reflections to their members. For 10 days (beginning last Friday), the organization is highlighting 20 MAIP alumni and supporters who have been recognized by the industry as rising stars, change agents, and legends, as well as those MAIP alumni who sit on the Advisory Board and make the event possible.

Yesterday, our very own Sheldon Levy contributed one of the series’ videos. We’ve embedded his message at the top of the post, but would strongly advise that you head over to the MAIP Facebook page to hear what their many other talented participants had to say. Also, be sure to keep an eye on H/H for more news about Gina Christie’s ADCOLOR win this year, which we’ll have for you soon.

(Em)Power Breakfast

Thursday, September 20th, 2012

We’d like to take a minute to congratulate  our Worldwide CEO Kevin Roberts, who is set to be honored at tomorrow morning’s The Young Women’s Leadership Network Annual (Em)Power Breakfast. And he’s certainly in good company, the TYWLN will also be honoring Editor-in-Chief for Newsweek/Daily Beast Tina Brown, Gilt Croupe’s Chairman Susan Lye and Ann Shoket, Editor-in-Chief for Seventeen.

If The Young Women’s Leadership Network sounds familiar, it’s likely because SaatchiNY hosted students from one for their local schools just a few months ago. Also, our very own Gina Chrstie is set to receive an ADCOLOR Award later this year for her work with the organization.

Long story short, it’s a great organization and we couldn’t be more pleased to have a relationship with them. Congrats to Kevin, whose work with TYWLN definitely merits “The man We Love Award” he’ll be receiving tomorrow morning at the Pierre Hotel.

David Perry Makes the 50

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Our Director of Broadcast Production, one Mr. David Perry, has been with the agency for 23 years. That’s a feat you don’t often see achieved in this particular business, so we couldn’t be more pleased to see him getting credit where credit’s due in this year’s “The 50” from AdWeek.

Ranked #35 on their list of “the people who make the machinery of media, marketing and technology hum,” he’s deservedly given a place among some of the most influential people in media, marketing and advertising. The list describes him as – “Calm, adaptable and supportive, he’s like the rhythm guitar player in a rock band,” and we’ll finish up by simply agreeing.  He’s most definitely a rock star.

ADCOLOR WIN

Monday, August 20th, 2012

We’re happy to share with the world that SaatchiNY’s very own SVP Management Director, Gina Christie, is set to be awarded a 2012 ADCOLOR Award in the category of Change Agent. The award celebrates prominent leaders of color and leading advocates of diversity in the Advertising, Marketing and Media industries. The Change Agent award in particular recognizes leaders that creatively and actively develop diversity in their industries, bringing unique perspectives together to create ideas that inspire loyalty.

A CRASH COURSE ON WHY GINA IS AWESOME
A native New Yorker, Christie joined the Saatchi & Saatchi NY family nearly five years ago. Her focus has been on driving brand growth and creating ideas worth sharing for top clients such as Olay and General Mills. Christie’s concern for the futures of those around her has driven her to lead Saatchi & Saatchi’s involvement with The Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem. The school provides low-income female students of color with an outstanding college-prep education and a personalized, dynamic, hands-on learning environment in which young women can thrive academically. Furthermore, she is an active member of the Saatchi & Saatchi Diversity Advisory Board and the Publicis W.A.T.E.R. Coalition (Women for Advancement, Transformation, Empowerment and Renewal), exemplifying her community leadership and ability to inspire others.

The ADCOLOR Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas from October 18th through October 20th, 2012,

Another year, another week in Cannes. Of course, we weren’t all able to go . . . but we can certainly live vicariously through work mates, right? Special thanks for everyone on the Saatchi NY Twitter list for taking these fun pics on the ground at this year’s Lions.
